As a reminder with Position Statement (PS) Ideas these are not finished position statements. They are suggestions on topics that the you believes would benefit the AMTA and the massage profession.

When submitting a position statement:

1) Ask yourself the question “If there is enough research to support a position statement around this topic how would it benefit our profession and my state?

2) You might also ask if there is a down side to having a PS around this topic.

3) You may need to do some research on what affect a PS on this topic would have in your state

Think inside and outside the box as you ponder the topic and discuss it.

It is the job of the AOD to decides the ‘Idea’ would be of benefit to the AMTA and the profession it will be passed on to the National BOD to determine if it will be sent on to a PS work-group. That group is divided into basically two parts. The first part will work to verify if the research is there to support such a statement.

Position Statement
It is the position of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) that massage therapy can be a beneficial part of an integrative treatment plan for those who suffer with fibromyalgia syndrome.
